I’m not sure how many people utilize swap meets or flea markets in this day and age, however,
a perfect analogy of what the stock market is, can be easily described as Lets get on with the lesson. So what is the stock market? Let's say you arrive at your favorite flee market in search of oil paintings, with one important criteria: You have to meet with the local artist to buy the art work. When you do meet with the artist you tell them how beautiful their art work is and that you have been following their career for a while. The artist is impressed at how much you know about their career. You spot a painting that you want to purchase and you notice the price. Before you left your home, you had a budget, you would not spend more than $100 on a piece of art work. The price for the paining is $175. You approach the artist with your price, you offer $75,no more. The artist denies your offer and you walk away. Towards the end of the day the artist hasn’t sold any of his paintings and now they are willing to offer you the paining at $70 just to make a sale for that day.. Both you and the artist have made a winning transaction. You received your art work, the artist received their money. The transaction was easily facilitated by the swap meet (a place where vendors and customers can meet and conduct a transaction.) Eons ago men of stature would gather under a sycamore tree at 68-70 Wall Street with their expensive “Armani suites” to buy and sell “stocks, securities or equities that helped establish American Corporations as we know them today.
