What is a PRE Stock Market Gap?

Stock market trading opens at 9:30 am EST and intra day trading stops at 4:00 pm EST. during this time period stocks either move higher, lower or sideways.



This period of stock trading is referred to as intra day trading.

Before 9:30 am EST investors and traders can place stock trades, however, if you place a trade before 9:30 am, this form of stock market play is referred to as pre market trading.

After 4:00 pm EST you can place trades on the market through ECN’s and this type of stock trading or investing is referred to as after hours trading.
