Swing traders are those traders who enter the market with the intention of capturing a major part of a short term trend. For example, if based on their analysis, a trader believes that their profit target for a particular stock will be reached within 3 - 8 days; they will enter the trade with this intention and only close out the trade once the profit target is reached or one of their rules has been violated.

The swing trader has a clear profit target or goal prior to entering their trade, these types of traders do not base the trades on the notion of “buy, hold and diversify for the long term.”

This market participant is not concerned with the minor price fluctuation that may occur during the day. These fluctuations are accounted for in their technical analysis.

Swing trades are used as a way to generate income from the market without having to watch your trades like a hawk, every minute that the stock market is open.
